GMRS Radio Class 2026.10.23
Where: Point Arena Record
When:
Friday, October 23, 6PM-
What:
how to program GMRS/ham Radio with chirp.
Bring Your Own Radio.
The Record serves food and brews.
Why:
To learn how to program frequencies into your radio
bring your radio, bring a laptop, learn how to Chirp.
or just come and play, we'll have some extra radios to muck about with.
more details to follow, but we're gonna take over a table at the record and learn about how to program radios. They serve scrumptilicious chow, and i've been told the brew is good too.
if you want to get ahead of the game, download Chirp to your laptop, and run it. do "file>open>open-stock-config>gmrs-us to get an idea of what the memory "spreadsheet" is about. then bring that laptop to the class, and get greasy fingerprints and beer spilled on it.
there are other ways to prog your radio, apps on android and ios exist, i've not tried myself, but can help you get going. search "Baofeng BT-1AD" or "bluetooth k-plug" on usual markets.
we will have USB programming cables for the "K-plug" radios (like all the baofengs) and others if you don't have one. that's the standard way we program the PAFS radios.
rsvp not required, but ping me for rough headcount or questions.
